Der Engl im Laufe der Zeit

Im Jahr 1900 kaufte mein Urgroßvater Alois Teufl den Gasthof, der damals noch "Goldene Gans" hieß und benannte ihn um in "Gasthaus Engl", mit dem Zusatz: "Besitzer Teufl".

Nach Alois Teufls Tod wurde der Betrieb verpachtet und dann ab 1959 selbst von seiner jüngsten Tochter Hildegard Tutz geb. Teufl als Gasthaus bewirtschaftet. Dies war für die damalige Zeit sehr ungewöhnlich. Meine Großmutter hat ihr ganzes Leben sehr hart gearbeitet und durch ihren Fleiss ihren Kindern ein besseres Leben ermöglicht.

Nachdem meine Großmutter 1975 in Pension ging, übernahmen meine Eltern, Waltraud (geb. Tutz) und Peter Gaßner den Betrieb und erweiterten den Gasthausbetrieb um Gästezimmer und erwarben "baufällige" Häuser in unmittelbarer Umgebung des Betriebs. Ein weiterer großer Umbau im Jahr 2000/01 schuf Platz für einen Lift und ein weiters Stockwerk.

 

2006 übernahmen mein Mann Christian Hofer und ich, Christine Gaßner mit 4 Kindern den Engl und überführten den Gasthausbetrieb aufgrund sich stark veränderter Rahmenbedingungen zum jetzigen Betrieb als Hotel Garni.

Wir bauten das weiße Haus Innstraße 89 und die Tiefgarage. Die Arbeit vom und mit dem Engl und unsere 4 Kinder halten uns permanent auf Trab. Seit 2008, der Finanzkrise, die schwierige Personalsuche, die Covidpandemie und der plötzliche Tod meines Vaters Peter Gassner am 19. Juli 2022 stellten/stellen uns immer wieder vor sehr große Herausforderungen und lassen unser Leben alles andere als langweilig erscheinen.

The Engl History

In the year 1900 my grandfather Alois Teufl bought the Gasthof that's name had been "Golden Goose" back then and named it into "Gasthaus Engl" with adding: Owner Teufl (meaning Owner Devil).

After Alois Teufl died in 1936, the Gasthaus had been let to others. In 1958 my grandmother Hildegard Tutz, his daughter, took it back and run it like a "Gasthaus". That had been very unusual for that time then. My grandmother had been very hard working all her life trying to manage everything that mattered to her.

In 1975 my grandmother retired and so my mother Waltraud Tutz (Gassner) and my father Peter Gassner, who also has been a teacher for 40 years, took over the Gasthaus and renovated and rebuilt and added it with guestrooms for many years to come. In the almost 30 years being owner of the Gasthof Engl my parents worked very hard and only because of their enormous diligence  and the will to succed it was possible that their business did so well and they were also able to buy some of the rotten houses in the close neighborhood.

Since 2006 my husband Christian Hofer and myself Christine Gassner Hofer took over from my parents as they retired. We made the decision to move from the Gasthaus business to the Hotel Garni business.

We built the White House with the underground garage and having 4 children we are also constantly busy. Since 2008, the finance crises, the huge problem in finding stuff, the Covidpandemic and the very sudden and completely unexpected death of my father Peter Gaßner on July 19th 2022 made/make it not less challenging.

Therefore we can honestly say that our life is anything but boring.
